Dead But Dreaming? The Sleep of the Damned

Some extremely salient points, Azrael, thank you. *nodding* Indeed, one should always be careful when seeking to open gateways, to the soul or to any other location. I am not a practitioner of the Necromantic arts myself; they seem a little ... vulgar in their execution.
*pouring more tea*
Hubris is so often the downfall of anyone who seeks to aim too high; Cainites are by no means immune, alas ...
*thoughtful sip*
But perhaps, if it is possible for darker dreams tio manifest, then we may still hear the whispered words of the Divine in our dreams also?

[That's quite all right, Michael - I try to make it a point never to assume anyone's gender online
I had thought that both Michael and Xemiel were character names, as it happens, as I have characters of both genders myself. Added to that, so many online names are gender-neutral that one can't make too many assumptions

My heritage may give you some indication of my propensity for verbosity; I can only apologise.

No doubt that more...pleasant dreams, can come to the Cainite soul, but I would say that it depends on who or what kind of attention you attract.
Far too many Cainites succomb to the so called Beast in either sublte or dramatic ways, and thus the attention gained is rarely pleasant.
Others however are more at peace with themselves and thus gentle and kinder spirits may come to their dreams.
As for if the Divine could whisper its words to the sleeping Cainite, I cannot answer. For eons has God not directly stared upon Creation, and none can truly know the whereabouts of the Allmaker and her servants, and thus making anything coming from the Divine all less possible.
I'm afraid, my friend that this truly is a World of Darkness. Whatever hope you may garner, keep it and hold onto it as though your very existence depended on it. I may well do so some day.

Wise words for solemn times, my friend. Temperance is a necessity when one's soul is at stake. It is difficult to balance one's nature with the demands of the Beast, but without speaking too much on such indelicate matters, I will say that it can be resisted ... And no hidden knowledge worth possessing comes at an easy price.
The Almighty left even Caine with the hope of redemption, and in that knowledge, there is hope for us all.
*a thoughtful pause, then, after finishing the chalice*
A most interesting discussion, gentlemen!

*bows* Thank you; your words are gracious and I am highly complimented.
It is conversations such as these, and the company I find here that keep me returning to this board above any other. Hidden knowledge, I will venture to say, is not so sweet as that same lore shared with fellow scholars. Gentlemen, I salute you! *raises the glass* Long may we thrive!

Long may we thrive indeed. And lets make this alliance an example to all around us that given time, Cainite, Sebettu and Nephilim can indeed be friends and allies.
*raises cup*To immortality, and to immortal knowledge.

*Depending on how he kills me, I heal and get up* Sorry about that, must be the fatigue or the WW forum question I posted yesterday.
Now I'd recomend you not trying that again. It took all of Lucifer's army to bring us down, and we were pretty much a handful compared to you guys. Plus, years in the Deadrealms have made me more potent than I was, and the essence of an Earthbound flows within me as well. I wouldn't enjoy losing a friend for a dumb question that far too many *kewl powerz* WW forumites ask.
