Most of the time we're talking Vampire LARPs on this board, right? But then again, it's not unheard of that someone holds a Mage or Werewolf LARP.

Since Vampire typically ends up in Elysia, how would you handle the other kinds of LARPs? Werewolf moots? How do you regulate the shapeshifting (face it, raising your hands and roaring just aint that awesome)? Mage consilium? How about Demon or Changeling or Mummy?

And I was thinking of holding a nWoD Mage LARP (since the Vampire ones has been popping up like rabbits lately around here), do you have any tips for story and such?

Any WW game can be done in Liva Action and, in general, you need to do the same thing in all of them but usually one part is always forogtten. Most STs don't consider the mdium when they are considering the story they want to tell. They assume that because it can be told in TT it can also be done in a LARP. That is not true. Just as books & comics change when becoming movies to take advantages of the strengths while working around the weaknesses of a movie you need to rework you stories to take advaantages of the MET while working around its weaknesses. Do that and you will be fine.

I've run and played in many Changeling larps. I consider them to be the second most common form of MET games, next to Vampire.

I have little to no knowledge of Changeling/Fae, why do you think it is the most common next to vampire, and what makes Changeling so good to LARP?

Well, the society is great for larping. Werewolf, mummy, etc all have things in the game that get in the way, but Changeling has festivals abound, freeholds with the Escheat (functions much like Elysium), lots and lots of schisms and things to bind characters together, and all sorts of great stuff. It also has a lot to appeal to many different people, so you can have people who like social intrigue, people who like adventure (although that would be more downtime) and people who like courtly love all in the same game, interacting in good ways with each other.

Now, there are problems, such as the fae versus mortal seeming, and some of the stuff the Arts can do, but they're not insurmountable, and not really any worse than any other non Vampire White Wolf game.

I'd have to disagree with it being second most common next to Vampire... I'd say that Werewolf has that distinction... followed most likely by Mage... then Changeling as I've only ever heard of one Changeling LARP and that fell apart after a few months... having said that I've never heard of an Oblivion LARP...

I was thinking that perhaps there could be some menace from the vampires, thus, the werewolves and the mages has to overcome their cultural and inheritent differences to defeat an ancient foe.

or a threat from another group of werewolves and mages... BSD's and Nephandi perhaps...
