All though all it really says is that WW is going to put out some free quickstart rules. I imagine that they'll also probably be available at conventions this Summer.

I´ve been keeping up with the spoilers and hints so far and I get the same feeling I got about Exalted: the Fair Folk. Mind you, before E:tFF came out, it was said that they were finally creating a completey new fae game. So the book comes out - a book about characters trapped between two worlds. They can neither go back to where they came from, for they took a shape and thus their homelands have become way too chaotic too them, nor can they just live among humans, at least not if they don´t feed on dreams and emotions to keep themselves intact. Sounds familiar?
This whole "Lost" thing, escaping through the Thorns, being hunted by the Others, references to Neverwhere and Something Wicked this Way Comes - it all takes me back to that whole alienation, isolation and other similar themes from Changeling, mainly from the 1st Edition books, which just a pinch of The Great Purge. If it is in fact going to be different, no hints so far have been given for us to believe so. Sure, the setting is going to be dramatically different - thank God - but does the setting really, automatically creates a whole new theme? I don´t think so.
Either way, the book comes out in August, doesn´t it? As soon as I get my hands on a copy, I´ll be back stating if my suspicions were correct - or not.

There may be a few similar elements to C:tD, but it sounds to me like it will be rather different.

(Though the possibility of magelike flamewars do pique my interest in following the final outcome, I must admit.).
That would be a fun rote for Sarah...

Whenever you have a new version of a game, there will always be people who prefer the old one. There's nothing wrong or snobbish about that, it's simply that they like the themes and mechanics better. I know that there are Vampire, Werewolf, and Mage players who have tried both versions and have decided that they like the oWoD one better. They didn't automatically bash the new version simply because it wasn't their favorite game. They gave it a chance, and decided that they didn't like it. Heck, there are people with NO knowledge of the oWoD games who give the nWoD a chance and decide that they don't like it.
The great thing about RPGs is that the key ingredient is the imaginations of the ST and players. That resource is something that continues even after a game has been canceled. I know that you can still find people playing 1st ed D&D, Earthdawn, Castle Falkenstein, and a bunch of other canceled games.

Yeah, don't know. As Loyalone pointed out, we've only really be expressing opinions on the title. As I pointed out before, I'm sure that the nWoD Changeling will not appeal to some oWoD Changeling fans simply because it's not C:tD. However, I think that most of us (myself included) will pick it up simply because it's a WW Changeling game. Once we have a chance to read it, we'll express our opinions on how much we like it.

Well, now that's out of the way, I would like to say that I don't think there will be much bickering or pissin' contests between the two Changeling forums when CtL comes out. I mean, we are a civilized and agreeable lot, nothing at all like the mages (

Well I do hope that we'll be able to support each others games and forums more than snipe, but only time will tell.
In truth I really do not hold the nWoD games, setting or system in a very high regard at all. However I'll still give C:tL a fair crack of the whip based entirely on its own merits. I think Ethan Skemp is (along with Matt McFarlane) one of the few remaining plus points in the company and am hoping this game will break the current trend.
Even if the game does suck, I'll still probably buy all the books* and be parrt of the C:tL forums debates.
* I continued buying the revised books in some sick form of self punishment.
