You mean its suposed to be warm around here?
Its fucking cold! And rainy, just to ad insult to injury.
Anyhow, as a lurking lurker, I have noticed some increase. But that just seems to be the thing that goes in waves. I tend to stay away more when its filled with heated discussions, tho, oddly enough...

I stay away when I would find it impossible to comment and still stay in persona.
The other side to this, of course, is that one cannot swear a blue streak at some thoughtless would-be provocateur or other devotee of the lowest common denominator.
This would not be very Kiasyd of me, and it can be harder than one might suppose.
So ... my answer would be perhaps, but I would say that the anonymity of online conversation (anywhere) seems to be what increases the tendency of some to be rude or confrontational. It is harder to act in such a way if one's "opponent" is sitting in the next chair.

I also took a look at this after having seen IHAL's response, and I tell you, of all the absurd, biased, berating, offensive, and flat out unjustifiedly stupid things I have seen in my life, this would make the Top 3, and I'm not sure in which position. I remember a thread a couple of years ago about Tom Cruise's "wisdom" about psychiatric medication, and I was also pissed off by it, especially due to some personal acquaitances with paranoid schizofrenics, and having seen the wonders medication can do to alleviate symptoms and increase the overall quality of life in such diseases.
