I'll be honestly I am not a fan of MtAw, but I am curious about the Awakening. How did the developers manage to streamline the mechanics? Does the book make use of any of the material from MtAw supplements? Are any new rules added (like The Requiem's weird Clan Influence rules?)

Major additions that I noticed, reading from my PoD version (which is softcover... I'd be nice if Lulu could do hardcover):
A big (16 pages?) section on Status, what it means, how to get it, how to lose it and non-XP ways of arbitrating it in large games, for both Order and Consilium Status.
BillB's expanded Relinquishment option.
All the Mage Sight and Shielding spells are combined, ala "Counterspell" in the MtAw core book.
A couple mentions of other books, such as Secrets of the Ruined Temple. Nothing required, ruleswise, just for additional background material.
A neat Print on Demand logo that looks like the WoD logo.
